You know vacation brain? When you’re off work and enjoying doing everything you want, just when you want to. That was me October 26th, driving out of the Shenandoah, when I decided to move to France.
I was listening to podcasts on the two-hour drive out of the Appalachians. I’d just been hooked, within the last 6 months, to podcasts in general when I found Dear Sugar Radio. Something about heartbreak and finding ‘the one’ that made me tune in early 2016. Back to the story du jour… on my two-hour drive leaving the mountains, I listened to Episode 71.
Returning home to my sister’s, I told her about my new decision to move to France and the response was, “Yeah, do it.” The next day, while eating dinner with a friend, the response was the same, if not more enthusiastic, “Yeah, do it!” And that’s all it takes— a little push from someone else to realize I can be my own guide. Don’t worry, irony is not easily lost on me.
My mind hasn’t taken a rest from planning my escape since.
